Designed for the busy (and potentially overwhelmed parent!), community based therapy means the therapy comes to you and/or your child!
Behavioral issues including irritability, refusal to cooperate, lack of concentration, hyper-vigilance, hyperactivity, bossiness, tattling, lying, stealing and concealing can indicate an underlying problem.
Children often lack the verbal and emotional regulation skills needed to express their feelings. Add that to the guilt, shame and fear that comes from believing something may have been their fault, and you have one hurting little kiddo.
Many parents are not able to bring their children to a therapy appointment due to busy work schedules. This could mean that the child, tween, or teen does not get the therapy they need... but it doesn't have to!
With community based therapy, we go to you or your child. Our goal is to ensure that every child, tween, or teen who needs therapy, gets therapy!
Community -based play therapy enters the child's world of play to help him or her identify and process grief, work through trauma issues, express feelings, and develop new coping skills. Therapeutic methods include child directed play, sand tray, art, music, story telling, and a variety of other creative, expressive modalities.
If you think you or someone you love would like to receive community-based therapy services, please call.
