Melinda Haynes completed a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology at California State University, Chico ("Chico State") and a Master of Arts in Psychology at California Southern University ("Cal Southern").  She completed her licensing associateship (formerly called "internship") hours under the clincial supervision of Dr. Kevin Nieman (Cornerstone Christian Counseling) in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

After launching her professional therapy career as a therapeutic foster care (TFC) therapist in, she ventured out into her own Private Practice serving the greater Tulsa area. In 2015, she completed the steps for licensure for marriage & family therapists again... this time in California.

​In 2018,  she founded Family & Children’s Counseling Services, Inc. with a vision to facilitate healing and whole-person well-being through the use of a variety of clinically proven psycho-social interventions. (See the history and growth of FCCS here.)

Melinda has assisted children and families in regards to social, emotional and behavioral concerns, parenting, life transitions and healthy adjustment since 2003, but began her early career in the helping professions in the 1990s.

She has been called as an Expert Witness in Supervised Visitation, and authored the first fully online National Supervised Visitation training course for new and seasoned professional providers.

Melinda is proud of her amazing adult children:
- a son (who holds a Bachelor's degree in Business Finance from Chico State, an MBA from Dominican University, and works as a Business Development Manager in the insurance industry),
- a daughter-in-law (who holds a Bachelor's of Arts in Communications from St. Mary's College, an MPA from the University of San Francisco, and is a Human Resources Generalist), 
- a daughter (who holds a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Central Oklahoma, and is a Registered Nurse in a busy mother-baby unit), 
- and the youngest daughter (a 13 year old sassy 7th grader who loves gymnastics and is an aspiring make-up artist / fashion designer).  

Melinda is also Lolly to two adorable grandsons. She enjoys spending time with family and traveling the contiguous U.S. in a converted camper van.
