Children and teens who have been placed in the foster care system (been detained by the Court / CSD / CPS) have strong and confusing emotions that can manifest in the form of challenging behaviors. Foster parents, adoptive parents, and/or family guardians (kinship foster care) can struggle to find the right mix of compassion, love, guidance and discipline.
Assessment, treatment planning and therapy services can be provided in a variety of modalities for children, parents, caregivers, and/or the unique family unit to address issues related to loss, grief, adjustment, anxiety, depression, behavioral concerns, trauma recovery, attachment / bonding and parenting. Ongoing collaboration is coordinated with the CSD caseworker, foster parent and other important people in the child’s life. Additional services may include classroom observation, collaboration with daycare staff or school teachers, and social skills development to facilitate the child/ren with social and emotional adjustment.
