Heal Play Love University- Confronting The Truth: Food Addiction - Obesity is Self-harm | Is Body Positivity Healthy
Overweight and Obesity.
This video might ruffle some feathers, but what we are doing isn't working. We thought we had an Aha Moment when we started to think of overweight and obesity as a food addiction, but we don't have any solutions or success to the problem based on looking at it that way.
The diet industry keeps getting wealthier and people, quite frankly, keep getting fatter. What if we looked at the underlying reason?
Self-worth, kindness to self, self-hate and other emotional struggles related to being overweight or having obesity.
What if obesity stems from a hatred of self? And what if that stems from trauma or abuse?
What if the behavior of lacking self-care is because we think we are unworthy of self-care?
Could it be that overeating is a form of self-harm or self-mutilation- just like cutting? I"m not saying any of this (which is just my opinion anyway) to offend anyone. I want to look at things from a different perspective in order to find a solution.
If we can admit that overeating / overweight and obesity is a form of self-harm, we may be able to ask the next questions, like, "Why do I harm myself?" "What is my overeating saying about me or my feelings?" "If my overeating could talk or scream, what would it say?" "What wounds are hiding behind the extra weight?" "Does the weight protect me from something or someone?" These are all valid questions that may uncover hidden motives of overeating and address the problem of why people lose and gain ... lose and gain.
What do you think? Agree? Disagree? Let's talk.
