Family & Children's Counseling Services, Inc. welcomes Sheila Cothern as our Billing Coordinator!
Sheila spent many years in magazine publishing, with responsibilities that included art / design, editing, marketing, accounting, and billing $1 million per month,
She has previously owned and managed a historic inn and cafe in Colorado, cooked at dude ranches, luxury ski properties, and summer camp for kids struggling with Dyslexia.
In late 2017, it became apparent that Sheila's Dad's memory loss was not just normal aging, but Alzheimer's disease. She has since stepped in to be her Dad's trustee and caretaker. This experience has sparked a new adventure: helping other caretakers through an Alzheimer's caretaker's podcast, scheduled to launch in January 2020.
As an adult adoptee, Sheila understands ambiguous loss first-hand and is very active in the adoptee rights movement. She is passionate about using her genealogy skills to analyze DNA, build family trees, and help others discover their truth. Currently, she is enjoying building a relationship with her biological father and extended family she found with DNA only 3 years ago.
Sheila is the proud parent and parent-in-law of two adult children (John, age 32, and Chelsea, age 29), and their wonderful spouses. She looks forward to her new role as grandmother, due to start in February 2020.
