Family & Children’s Counseling Services is happy to welcome Lina Nevarez as a Therapist Trainee!
 
Lina is a Los Angeles native who holds a bachelor’s degree in Sociology and is currently pursuing her master’s degree at Touro University Worldwide to become a Marriage and Family Therapist. She is under the clinical supervision of Melinda Haynes, MA, LMFT 102308. 

Lina brings a warm, non-judgmental, conversational style approach that matches your energy. Some topics are heavy and carry big emotions, she will use different evidence-based methods like Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Solution Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT) for individuals/families and the Gottman Method when working with couples. Therapy is not a one size fits all approach, and her goal is to find the best solution that is achievable and empowering. Even if you had negative experiences in the past, she works with you to create better coping skills, have healthier relationships and change negative patterns that will bring more joy to your daily life.

Lina is deeply committed to supporting both individuals and children. With a professional background in the medical field, she saw first-hand how much individuals needed more access to therapy services and support. She uses a collaborative approach to ensure you feel respected, heard and seen especially when working with families. Her focus to improve communication, resolve conflict and set boundaries can start the healing process with families in the therapy setting.

In Lina’s free time, she enjoys doing various activities with her son and husband like visiting the aquarium, parks, Disneyland and attending Dodger Games. She also enjoys long walks outside which is her favorite way to de-stress. 

Lina will see clients via Telehealth throughout California. ​
