Family Disruptions Upsets can come in many forms: divorce, relocation, a visit from a CPS Social Worker, a job loss, etc. These changes- whether expected or not- can cause upset with the child/ren, parents and family system.
People who experience family or life disruptions may experience any combination of the following: - depression - anxiety - separation anxiety - increased sibling rivalry or conflict - trouble at school or work - anger / rage (with possible outbursts) - lowered feelings of self-worth - nightmares - panic attacks - conflict with friends or family members - increased emotional or social sensitivity - different behaviors / acting out - trouble with sleep (or sleeping too much) - fear related to the future - feeling overwhelmed or hopeless
