Family & Children’s Counseling Services is happy to welcome Becca Raney as a Therapist Trainee!
 
Becca holds a Bachelor’s degree in Sociology and is currently pursuing her Master’s degree in Counseling Psychology at Pacifica Graduate Institute. She is working toward dual licensure as a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) and Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC). She is under the clinical supervision of Melinda Haynes, MA, LMFT 102308. 

Becca moves from a client-centered, depth-oriented approach to therapy, drawing primarily from psychodynamic theory and expressive arts traditions. She is particularly drawn to the ways in which healing often emerges from encountering what lives beneath the surface of our everyday experience—through patterns, dreams, emotions, bodily responses, relationships,parts we have learned to hide or protect, and the stories that we carry. Through integrating expressive arts, somatic awareness, narrative therapy, trauma-informed, and existentially-aware care, she supports clients in reconnecting with their authentic voice and discovering new ways of relating to themselves and the world. She believes healing begins with curiosity, compassion, and grace for the inherent messiness of being human.

Her professional background includes facilitating expressive arts therapy groups for low-income and unhoused communities, teaching children at a fully outdoor Forest School, and practicing community mediation. These experiences all inform her lasting belief in our resiliency and capacity to adapt within all of life’s complexities. As a neurodivergent-identifying and queer-affirming therapist, she is particularly drawn to supporting individuals navigating anxiety, depression, identity exploration, life transitions, and the lasting influence of personal history.  

Outside of therapy, Becca enjoys hiking in the Oakland hills, swimming in the ocean, writing poetry, and spending as much time outdoors as possible. She shares her home with her two cats, Wizard and Ollie.

Becca provides community-based eco-therapeutic services throughout the San Francisco Bay Area and offers Telehealth sessions to clients across California.
